We are blessed for the sounds of "Kekaniwai" Sacramento/Stkn, as they play for both our Halau here, Sacramento and Antioch. In addition Kumu Blaine's Kekaniwai from O'ahu come in occasionally during other events to play. Congratulations to Kekaniwai as they were honored with Best Musicians Award during the 2006 Ka La Hula Competition in Reno. They rocked. This past year, Kekaniwai performed their wonderful music for us at Ia Oe E Ka La 2007.
In Sacramento/Stockton, our leader of the band is, Eddie Kamana Ane/Lead Vocals and Ukelele, Oscar Aban/Guitar and Co-lead Vocals, and Freddie Aynaga Bass/Vocals, and newest member Thomas Chin/Guitar. They play for many of our events and venues or just Kanikapila.

In May 2005 we lost our dear Cuz' Kaleo whom was the leader of Kekaniwai, Uncle could be heard jammin' Santana, Jimmy Hendrix and his rock and roll. But his love for Hawaiian music, and original pieces are deeply missed. He was known for always taking care of everyone else before himself. He also sang and played his lead guitar with several other Hawaiian Bands. Uncle you are missed and will always be in our hearts.
